ORANGINA

In the shadow of her sister, she may share a rare genetic mystery of her own.

Orangina was born on June 1st, 2018, dark as late‑afternoon shadow, daughter of Cereja and Oceano, full sister to Nêspera — and, with her, part of the same small kingdom.

We see them always together: two parallel lines,
two wills that recognise each other.
Nêspera leads; Orangina follows, steady, with a strong and pronounced presence, as if she knows exactly where she stands in the heart of the herd.

Her body carries ancient signs: zebra‑striping on all four legs, a deep mask on her face, and that closed, dark colour that hides her among the grullo mares, as if the earth itself claimed her.

She has never conceived.
She has never foaled.
Year after year, her belly remains quiet, time passing through her without leaving a mark.

Perhaps because she is grey, it took us longer to see her.
Nêspera, bay, carries the shadow of her grandmother Mimosa more visibly — but there are days when we suspect the story does not repeat in just one mare, and that Orangina, discreet, may hold the same rare map, the same old force that cannot be explained by colour.

A dark mare,
a silence in the womb,
and a high place in the hierarchy —
as if inside her there were also something that does not follow the rules.
